LFA Trainer of the Month for November: Marc Rohde
Life Fitness Academy (LFA) Trainer of the Month is designed to help you get to know the trainers behind one of the greatest educational resources at Life Fitness. We’ve introduced you to a few already. This month, we highlight Marc Rohde of Hamburg, Germany. Marc is an outdoor enthusiast who started out as a soccer coach before creating a fitness concept called “functional playground,” which is an outdoor cross-training class. In November, he’ll be sharing some of his unique approaches to fitness and ways to get outside during the cold weather months. Let’s get to know Marc.
How did you get involved with Life Fitness Academy?
I initially started at Life Fitness as a marketing and event manager for Life Fitness in Germany in 2006. After a short time, I just felt I had too much energy for an office job and joined LFA as one of the first ones around the world. The excitement of creating new workout programs and working with the team on worldwide initiatives is what motivates me and makes me a proud member of LFA.
What is your favorite piece of Life Fitness or Hammer Strength equipment to train people on?
When it comes to training people on equipment, nothing quite matches up to what a SYNRGY product can provide. It’s incredibly versatile and makes it easy to deliver a dynamic program for anyone I’m training. It’s also great for small groups that have a wide variety of skill levels, because it creates an atmosphere that ushers in quality connections and enjoyment.
What is your favorite piece of Life Fitness or Hammer Strength equipment to train on personally?
I really like Hammer Strength rigs and racks. For the more advanced HIIT workouts I enjoy, the connected rigs with the platforms allow for the perfect technical execution I’m looking for.
How often do you work out per week?
I work out about 3 – 4 times per week and at a minimum, one of those times is outside. Even during the autumn months, I have to get an outdoor session in to keep me happy and find that breath of fresh air.
What are your favorite post-workout treats?
I love a high-protein blended drink. My favorite is one with almond milk, whey chocolate, your choice of flavor drops and raw cacao. I use a high-class blender and heat the drink during warm weather months. Careful, it’s addictive!
What is a fitness tip you think everyone should know?
When you’re working out, it’s important to know that it’s not all about getting bigger biceps and gaining muscle – fitness is a gateway to a better life. Whether you’re trying to lose a few pounds or just get into something new, it’s important to get in the gym and know that the time you spend there is time for yourself.
