Why Adam Levine is the Sexiest Man on Earth
Adam Levine, voted this year as People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, credits his good looks and energy to yoga. Levine, the lead singer of Maroon 5 and coach on NBC’s hit show The Voice, says yoga sculpts his body, helps him relax before concerts and relieves tightness in his lower back, hips and hamstrings.
In 2011, Levine bluntly told Details magazine, "I don't like how people [malarkey] about how yoga is not about vanity." You have to love how he says it like it is: yoga equals a better-looking you! And what’s wrong with enjoying your reflection in the mirror from all of your hard work, right? And it’s not just Levine who touts the benefits of yoga…
“The deeper you get into Yoga you realize it is a spiritual practice. It's a journey I'm making. I'm heading that way.” –Sting
“I noticed dramatic changes in my body after I started doing yoga.” –Jennifer Anniston
“At any Maroon 5 concert, you'll see a room backstage marked 'yoga.'”
The Body Part of Mind/Body
When I started taking yoga classes and teaching, my friends were surprised I was interested in mind/body exercise because I love the adrenaline rush of a high intensity workout. But yoga was exactly what I needed with three little kids, a full-time job, and tight muscles from teaching lots of crazy classes. Now, I crave yoga because it makes me a better parent, spouse, friend, and person!
Despite any preconceived notions, yoga is a full body workout. It isn’t all sitting, chanting and meditating. If you enjoy sports, yoga can help you with muscle soreness while improving your focus and boosting your energy level. Yoga can help you prevent injuries that would normally result from tight hamstrings, hips or shoulders. Yoga can be a wonderful complement to your other workouts and fitness regimen. Plus, there are so many different types of yoga, I guarantee you can find a class that appeals to you.
