Life Fitness Lifecyle® Exercise Bike Showcases Android Open Accessory Functionality

SAN FRANCISCO, May 12, 2011 – Life Fitness took a starring role at the annual Google I/O developer conference Tuesday, May 10, 2011 in San Francisco during the keynote address to 5,000 attendees and additional viewers streaming live in 120 cities around the world. At the conference Google announced Android™ Open Accessory that is designed to extend Android functionality to hardware accessories that work across all Android devices, which it demonstrated on the Life Fitness Lifecycle® exercise bike.

Google also previewed an initiative called Android@Home, which allows Android apps to discover, connect and communicate with appliances and devices in the every day lives of consumers.

“Android devices are growing significantly as a consumer tool and we are seeking all opportunities to connect our equipment to new devices to enhance the workout experience,” said Chris Clawson, president for Life Fitness. “The chance to demonstrate Android apps on Life Fitness equipment, like our Lifecycle exercise bike, is just another step forward in our continued technology evolution.”
