The Rise of the ICG Centre of Excellence - Revolve Studio University of Glasgow Sport
The latest in our Centre of Excellence series comes to you from Europe’s Cultural Capital of 1990, the Scottish City of Glasgow. In early 2016 the team at University of Glasgow Sport began to look at options to deliver indoor cycling for the first time. The team had an extension of an internal space and knew that investing into cycling, an activity that is very popular (not to mention successful) in Scotland, would be a very wise move indeed. Despite looking across the industry and investigating other indoor cycling brands, UoG Sport felt that the quality of the IC7 and the intuitive nature of the Coach By Color® programme made the ICG® offering the obvious choice.
Once the team were 100% on which offering was right for them, they worked hard to create a strong brand within the brand of UoG Sport, and in October 2016 Revolve was born. Adopting the black and gold colours associated with UoG for their instructor apparel was not the only design decision and great thought was put into every aspect of the studio. From the real road markings adorning the floor, to the HD TV video-wall on which to view the Myride VX or ICG® Connect programmes, to the multiple light settings, every decision was thought through fully to create the greatest experience for every rider in the room. The result of this is one of the most considered indoor cycling spaces in the UK and a Revolve brand to be proud of.
Considering the relatively young nature of the indoor cycling offering at Revolve the numbers of riders is very healthy indeed. 14 instructors offer 26 classes per week with an additional 17 virtual experiences on the timetable. Over 1200 ride spaces are available and are taken up by everyone from complete beginners to current Team Sunweb rider, Michael Storer who uses both the live and virtual classes to subsidise his training. In addition to the general use by members, the Revolve studio is also home to the University of Glasgow Sport Cycling team who use the studio for targeted developmental Power training. All-in-all the Revolve studio sees over 850 visitors every week and is a valuable addition to the University of Glasgow Sport’s health and fitness offering.
When Team ICG® were looking for a Scottish Centre of Excellence the team at Revolve and the quality of the studio space just ticked every box. We’re proud to continue to work with them and we’re looking forward to the next stop on the Team ICG® Club Ride tour which come to the revolve studio on the 20th April. There are a couple of spaces left and if you’d like to come and see everything that Team ICG® and Revolve offer then get booked on and experience everything that indoor cycling can be.
